“The duty to support is terminated by operation of law when a minor is emancipated. [Fam. Code, § 7050, subd. (a)] Emancipation of a minor occurs when any of the following conditions is satisfied [Fam. Code, § 7002]: (1) the minor has entered into a valid marriage, whether or not the marriage has been dissolved; (2) the minor is on active duty in the armed forces of the United States; or (3) the minor has received a declaration of emancipation pursuant to Fam. Code, § 7122. Fam. Code § 7002, subd. (a) was amended effective January 1, 2019, to provide that emancipation occurs when the person has entered into a valid marriage, or has established a valid domestic partnership, regardless of whether the marriage or the domestic partnership has been dissolved.”
